What's Happening At The Well Tuesday is our main weekly gathering. We meet from 6:30-8:00 p.m. for a mixture of fun, mutual support, worship, and study. The meeting begins with a meal. This is a great time to let go of the week's stresses and renew your spirit. http://lsmvt.lmlc.org/tuesday-feb-7SERVICE is an important part of The Well. During the semester you will have a variety of opportunities to put faith into action. Whether you enjoy working with kids, volunteering at a homeless shelter, doing yard work, stocking a food pantry--or something we haven't thought of yet, you can make a difference. http://lsmvt.lmlc.org/service-opportunity-feb-9 WORSHIP is offered each Sunday at Luther Memorial (8:30 & 11:00, 8:30 a.m. & 10:00 a.m. during the summer) and St. Michael Congregations (9 & 11). Students are invited to serve as lectors, ushers, communion assistants, Sunday School teachers, or assist with property. If you would like to add your gifts to the ministry, let us know, we would be glad to serve at LMLC. FRIDAY FOOD AND FELLOWSHIP happens every week at 6:02 at D2 on campus. Folks gather for supper and often head off for an end of the week evening of fun. GOD IN THE MOVIES is a chance to think about the "theology" in cinema. We gather for pizza, viewing a movie, and some discussion about what the movie is saying about God and questions of meaning and faith. This happens about once a month. Sometimes we meet in the Campus Center and sometimes at the Canterberry House. Check out the calendar for the dates. http://lsmvt.lmlc.org/god-n-the-movies SPRING BREAK TRIP is an opportunity for students to spend a week serving and learning. Plans are being finalized for the 2012 trip. http://lsmvt.lmlc.org/spring-break-trip-2-12 LUTHER FORUM is a Sunday morning opportunity for students to join other adults in Christian education. The Luther Forum is in the midst of a unit which examines how the
historical fact that Jesus was an observant Jew affects how we
understand his life and ministry. Using Amy-Jill Levine's The
Misunderstood Jew: The Church and the Scandal of the Jewish Jesus as our springboard, we are exploring how understanding the
historical context of Jesus' life might affect how we read Biblical
texts and view his--and our--relationship to Judaism. Books are
available from Pastor King. The forum meets during
the Sunday School hour, beginning at 9:45, in the campus center. |
