God in the Movies

Sometimes cinema has important things to say about God, life, relationships, values, and our search for meaning.  That is the presumption behind "God in the Movies," a recurring program which assumes that movies are often more than just entertainment.  Sometimes films, like all good art, help us see the world in a new way, think about big ideas, and  wrestle with issues which are at the heart of what it means to be human.

Several times a semester we gather with the Canterbury Campus Ministry for pizza, a movie, and some discussion.  This spring's schedule
  • Friday, Feb. 10, at Canterbury (Roanoke St.)  The film is Shadowlands, the C.S. Lewis biopic starring Anthony Hopkins.
  • Friday, March 23, at the Lutheran Campus Center (Corner of Prices Fork and Toms Creek)
  • Friday, April 20, at Canterbury

Plan to join us--the food is free, the movies first rate, and the discussion often lively.
